I would like to speak at any opportunity or format. My sense is that the Supreme Court will not address my lawsuit until after the election.
Please understand that I am in favor of any action that can restore parental rights in Ohio. As a by-product Issue 1 needs to be re-voted upon. The AG can agree tomorrow.

LORD LET MY AIM BE TRUE by Judge David Engler
Currently holds the office of Trumbull County Common Pleas Court Judge – Domestic/Juvenile Division (Term Commencing 1/1) until December 31, 2030.
Ninety days have passed since my election day loss for the 11th District Court of
Appeals. I came 700 votes out of 60,000 votes cast from winning, despite being
outspent by $100,000. But it was never about me, and that is why I have not had a
moment of regret. “There will be a victory and the victory belongs to the Lord.” That was the worship music I heard at my Middlefield, Ohio church, one week after filing the most important parental rights lawsuit in the state of Ohio’s history.
It was the reason God put me in this race, and my wife encouraged me to attend the Bring America Back to Life Convention in Independence, Ohio early this year.
I was there also to be interviewed by the Right to Life Action Coalition of Ohio. Make no mistake about it – that the lawsuit that alleges my job as a Juvenile Court Common Pleas judge was unconstitutionally changed by the 2023 abortion amendment is a winner! My solution is simple: send the language back to the ballot commission to rewrite it so the voters of Ohio know they are voting on giving up their fundamentally protected right to be a parent.
During Ohio Issue 1, the public was never polled about eliminating parental consent.
The removal of parental consent was hidden in the language. Today in Ohio, your
teenage daughter needs your consent to get a tattoo, but not to have an abortion. That is ridiculous. Anytime this issue has been polled, seventy percent to seventy-five percent of Americans support keeping parental consent. The abortion industry cannot win this argument, and they know it. The curious aspect of my litigation is that I know, based upon past Ohio Supreme Court rulings, my chances of success are very strong. But five days before Attorney Dave Yost left office, his staff filed a motion to dismiss my lawsuit and basically agreed with the ACLU who filed an amicus brief in opposition to my lawsuit.( It was written by the same ACLU attorney who crafted Issue 1) And so the State AG and ACLU share the same position.
It has been crickets from the state assembly, governor, and all other state office holders and candidates. I have been savagely attacked in this process. My dear friend, who is a giant in the pregnancy crisis counseling community, who has staff across northeast Ohio and has transformed thousands of women that were abortion ready, suggested that maybe it’s because my voice comes from a former Youngstown councilman, Mahoning County Commissioner, 22 year school board member, and now the Trumbull County Juvenile Court Judge. I had an easier time taking my community back from the mob than this group in Columbus. The thought is what good ever comes out of Youngstown or Warren, Ohio? I am not with a marquee law firm or national organization. It is just me. I asked other Judges to join but they passed.
My friend boosted my spirits by reminding me that many thought nothing good ever came out of the backwater town of Nazareth. Twenty-five thousand babies each year are aborted in Ohio. One half of that number are poisoned by the pill that you can buy online. About seven hundred of the abortions are minors. I’m a Juvenile Court Judge, and I can tell you that somewhere in Ohio this week, a pedophile or sex trafficker will be having their victim schedule an abortion or they’ll be getting the pill online. There are no questions asked.
The best protection a child has is their parents. I have one stone to throw at this evil
enterprise and I pray that it hits its target. Make no mistake that you cannot get to
socialism with the traditional concept of family in place .Issue 1 placed the State above the Family. I humble myself to you, warriors of this cause. You inspired me. Your help is needed now more than ever to allow the powers in our capital to not ignore this opportunity to stand up for our children. I, in my true service, continue to follow the path that has been set forth before me.
