I never thought I would be writing about someone impersonating me, but it is happening. Someone used my LFC logo under the name “Brian Mass” to make disparaging comments about a Geauga official, and now I received the following email from Carolyn Brakey, Geauga County Commissioner.
Brian,
Is the email below from you? Based on a comment of yours I saw on Facebook, I’m wondering if this may be the same person who has been using your name for clout.
I replied to the request regardless of who’s behind it, but I was curious whether it actually came from you.

You have had a week to provide a simple record that should easily be available. I will no longer wait for you. Commissioner, please service my request because you should have the records too. Thank you. If not, I will plan to alert your legal that I will be needing to file legal courses of action.
I told Commissioner Brakey that I did not send the email, and thanked her for making me aware of the deception.
If anyone has any “words of wisdom” on getting to the bottom of this criminal behavior, please let me know.
I will be visiting the Lake County and Geauga County Sheriff’s office to make a police report. I will also contact the F.B.I. because they have told me that if I ever feel threatened to contact them.
I will also contact all Lake and Geauga County officials to let them know what is happening.
