Here are the results of the 3.9 mill Concord Township Fire Levy as reported by the Lake County Board of Elections. The levy will cost Concord’s taxpayers $136.50 per $100,000 of their home market value per year..
$100,000 will pay $136.50
$200,000 will pay $273.00
$300,000 will pay $409.50
$400,000 will pay $546.00
$500,000 will pay $682.50
$600,000 will pay $819.00

Votes For the levy 6,299 50.5%
Against the levy 6,168 49.5%
Total Votes Cast 12,467 100.0%
The fire levy passed by 131 votes 1.0%!
Here is an interesting statistic that could have influenced the vote.
There were 12,963 total possible voters on the issue. Those are the number of people that actually went to the polls, or got absentee ballots and could have voted on the issue.
However, there were 496 citizens 3.83% that had a chance to vote on the fire levy, but chose NOT to vote on the levy – either for or against the levy.
So there were 496 taxpayers that let their neighbors determine their destiny.
We find that very interesting!
