Well finally, the LCC Brain Trust have put their heads together and uncovered a way to reduce some operating costs. Although, not quite exactly what we were thinking about. Not sure that we can even call this “dabbling around the edges”…..Unplugging a few appliances will not cut a lot of costs out of the operation. We were expecting to hear that some administrators and provosts were being given pink slips, or at least cuts in benefits, or hours.

An analysis of class schedules and sales data revealed an opportunity to reduce the operating hours (and associated costs) of the Athletic/Fitness Center and Breakers during both the summer months and throughout the academic year. The revised hours are as follows:
Summer Semester: May 12 – August 18
Athletic/Fitness Center
Monday through Thursday from 7:30 AM – 6:00 PM
Friday from 7:30 AM – 12:00 PM
Closed Saturday and Sunday
Breakers*
Monday through Thursday from 8:30 AM – 1:00 PM
Fridays from 8:30 AM – 12:00 PM
Closed Saturday and Sunday
Academic Semesters beginning August 19
Athletic/Fitness Center
Monday through Thursday from 7:30 AM – 8:00 PM
Friday from 7:30 AM – 6 PM

Breakers and kiosks in E, S, and H

*Breakers’ pizza and sizzlin’ salad stations, grill, and deli operations will be shut down during the summer months. From Monday through Thursday, Breakers will be open for beverages, refrigerated and non-refrigerated snacks, and grab ‘n go sandwiches and salads. Prepared foods such as grab ‘n go sandwiches and salads will not be available on Fridays. Kiosks throughout campus will be closed during the summer months. While the majority of vending machines will be turned off for the summer months, select machines at strategic locations throughout campus will remain turned on and stocked, including H Building – ground floor, A Building – 3rd floor Centrex, Athletic/Fitness Center, S Building – ground floor, and Holden University Center.
