Port Authority…..requesting travel expenses

We wanted all Lake County residents to be aware that LFC is working for you to make sure that our governmental entities and “non-profits” are spending your money wisely.

loose cannon 3 image Regardless what a particular Commissioner believes (no names mentioned because his feelings get hurt, and we always want to use proper decorum), taxpayers have the ABSOLUTE right to know EVERYTHING that our elected officials and bureaucrats are doing with OUR money!  The dirty little secret is that they only want you involved when you can help them get elected – at all other times, just stay home, remain silent, and be sure to pay your ever-increasing property taxes, or else they will take your home away from you. [Note to all: A new day is dawning my friends!]

We received a tip from one of our many sources in Lake County to “keep an eye” on the travel expenses of the Port Authority.

We sent the following email to Mr. Mark Rantala, Executive Director of the Port Authority:

Good Afternoon Director Rantala
I am requesting all the 2018 travel records for the Port Authority.
I am requesting any and all records that was paid for by the Port Authority. Which may include but not limited to any reimbursements, itemized bills, invoices, any expenses paid to anyone other than an employee or board member, the destination and reason the Port Authority attended the event, etc.
Is there an annual amount for travel expenses in the budget?

Response from Director Rantala:

Your request has been received.   We will process your request in the order received.  There are several records requests ahead of yours.

So stay tuned….we will post all of the information received from Mr. Rantala.

  7. Yes, FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) requests have time deadlines.. They are for Federal records records requests…However, local record requests are covered under the Ohio’s Sunshine Laws. They have a 30 day time limit.

  8. I love reading this page. I’m wondering exactly how many “several requests” are? Sounds like a Freedom of Information Act should be submitted to this office. I believe a FOIA has parameters for responding in a timely manner to requests.
