Thanks to our Kirtland lobbyist for this article. The State is thinking about collecting the property taxes and redistributing it as they see fit…..Hmmm, if they give the money to the parents (vouchers) so that the schools would have to compete for the kids that may be worth considering.

Here are some excerpts from the article that may cause you to sit up and take notice:
“If we had a fund where the money would flow into, and everyone had the same amount of local effort, those dollars would be, I would say, an adequate level of funding clear across the state of Ohio,”
“Householder yielded that such a plan would increase state power at the cost of local control.”
“I’m a big supporter of local control but let’s face it, you know, local control’s been gone for a long, long time,” he said. “So, you can still have local control and make sure that there’s a state fund out there that’s taking care of school districts at an adequate level.”
(LFC Comments: Well, well, well…there you have it ladies and gentlemen, the Ohio’s Speaker of the House of Representative telling you that all those property taxes you have been paying for local schools, and you still really do not have control of the schools. So just pony up the property taxes, even if it prices you out of your home, so that you can help some other school districts in Ohio. It also means that in addition to the property taxes, schools will be forced to pass income taxes, or some means of taxation for local schools.)
