Lake County Humane Society….
We had a request from the community to look into the affairs of the Lake County Humane Society, so we did a bit of investigating and sent this email to their representative.
Hello Ms. Osborne:
We are reviewing the financial statements of the Lake County Humane Society and found your form 990’s for 2014, 2015, 2016 on the website Guidestar.org.
We are requesting copies of your Form 990 for the years 2017 and 2018.
You may send them to us electronically to brian@LobbyistsforCitizens.com.
Can you also please tell us what the funds you received from the Lake County Commissioners for the years 2015 – 2018 were used for?
2015 – $3,868.00
2016 – $4,327.00
2017 – $12,490.00
2018 – $5,585.00

Here is the response from the Lake County Humane Society Representative:
Lake Humane Society did not receive the funds from the Lake County Commissioners.
These funds are paid directly to prosecutors who handle animal cruelty related cases on behalf of the State of Ohio. Those prosecutors are appointed by Lake Humane Society and paid by the Lake County Commissioners at court-appointed rates.
(LFC Comment: Just for the record the Lake County Prosecutor’s office has a $9 million budget.)
